Student guide
The UK is popular because many taught master’s degrees finish in 12 months, living costs can be planned city-by-city, and eligible graduates can stay on the Graduate Route. Before the visa you must receive a CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) from the university. Some students also face a credibility / CAS interview — Unimock.ai is built for that practice.

Why students choose UK
- Shorter degrees mean one year of tuition and earlier entry to work.
- A large set of English-taught programmes across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
- Clear post-study route for eligible bachelor’s and master’s graduates (longer for PhD).
- Regional cities can be more affordable than London while still offering ranked universities.

- Passport, résumé, and references if the course requires them.

London living costs are higher than other cities. The visa uses a fixed monthly living figure — your counsellor will match it to the current Home Office list.
Visa in simple steps
UK Student visa (CAS)
- Meet the offer conditions and pay the deposit so the university can issue a CAS.
- Complete any CAS / credibility interview the university books.
- Apply online for the Student visa, pay the IHS surcharge, and give biometrics.
- Travel after you have the visa decision and the course start window.
Work while you study
Most Student-visa holders can work up to 20 hours a week in term time, and full-time in vacations, unless the CAS says otherwise.
After you graduate
Eligible students can apply for the Graduate Route from inside the UK: usually 2 years after a bachelor’s or master’s, and 3 years after a PhD. You do not need a job offer to apply.
Scholarships and funding
- University international scholarships (often a tuition waiver).
- Chevening and a small number of government or commonwealth awards (highly competitive).
- Education loans once you have an unconditional / CAS-ready offer.
How Trencher helps
Start 8–10 months before September, or 5–7 months before January. Keep 3–6 weeks after CAS for the visa.
- Shortlist by ranking, city cost, and CAS credibility profile.
- SOP, documents, and application tracking.
- CAS interview practice on Unimock.ai and visa file review.
